What's the new goal of EasyJet regarding its pilot and what's Lord Ahmad point of view about air-carriers new plans?
Easy Jet is going to hire more women pilots by 2020. According to sources its goal is to hire 50 female pilots every year. The low cost air-carrier has also set its target of ensuring that the 20% of new entrant pilot recruited by easy jet in 2020 are female.
At the recruitment offices has accepted already 600 applications since British Low cost airline has taken the initiative and launched in October 2015 Amy Johnson programme for cadet pilots.
“ However, the proportion has not changed for pilots and it is hard to think of another high profile profession where women are so under –represented. We would like to understand why this is and to do what we can to redress the balance. We have been encouraged by the success of our Amy Johnson initiative since we launched it in October 2015 and the results so far suggest that the demand from women to become pilots is there” said Easy Jet’s CEO Carolyn McCall .
By increasing the number of female pilots in aviation it’s also a mission to accomplish for Easy Jet given that women in this specific role are only 3% per cent around the globe and only 450 of them have achieved the rank of captain.
![In the year ending September 2015, women made up 6% of easyJet’s new pilot intake and 5% of its total pilot community.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/53f019_f48e675e1f8a4b1697bc4866060c85d1~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_495,h_282,al_c,q_80,enc_auto/53f019_f48e675e1f8a4b1697bc4866060c85d1~mv2.jpg)
